| AUDIOGUIDES:
A ONE-STOP SERVICE |
|
Planning
We develop the design of your audioguide together with your own curators and
specialists. Our staff (production manager, authors, technicians) visit your
exhibition site to get a first-hand impression of the rooms and discuss your
main concerns in detail. We use a five-step model of key concerns:
- Likely tour environment (rooms, visitor volume, staffing levels)
- Issues, main emphases, target group(s)
- Nature of the tour
- Overall structure
- Narrators
Authoring
All of LINON Medien's authors and editors are experienced in the practical aspects
of museal work. They are familiar with the specialized areas needed for museums
and exhibitions and are equally at home in a variety of text genres (classic
audioguides, dialogue, dramatized scenes, textual collages, children's tours).
We work closely together with the curators, presenting draft versions of texts
to ensure the facts reflect the latest scholarly developments – and the
final decision on the textual content is yours.
Editing
Sometimes a museum already has texts available as a basis for an audioguide but
they may not be in a suitable format – perhaps too long, or with too many
specialist terms. And, of course, texts designed for audio access to exhibits
require a different style. LINON Medien is experienced in adapting texts, making
sure they meet the needs of audioguide users – while leaving your content
to speak for itself.
Translating
We offer translations into all the standard foreign languages. Our translations
are prepared by professional native-speaker translators familiar with the style
needed for successful audioguides. Our translators can move beyond mere "literal" translation,
carefully transposing the texts into the chosen language(s) so as to take the
cultural background of foreign visitors into account.
Producing
We produce your audioguides in our own sound studios. We work exclusively with
experienced, professional narrators and, together with you, select the most suitable
voices. We also offer the chance to select for example, American or British English,
choosing those narrators your visitors understand best. All our narrators are
native speakers – and for German-speaking countries, we even offer a range
of dialects! Depending on your choice of tour, we then include original recordings,
background atmosphere or music into the production. And of course, for your own
archives, we provide a CD version of the finished tour.
And when everything is ready ...
... we offer a review period after four to six weeks, since hindsight may (sometimes!)
be better than foresight!

| INFORMATION
AND DISPLAY PANELS |
|
Audioguides and multimedia presentations alter the function
of the classic information panel in an exhibition. Formerly,
such panels were the information medium par excellence but,
within an overall media concept, they take on the role of providing
visitors with basic, easily absorbed information.
Here too, you can profit from LINON Medien's experience! We'll be glad to advise
you on designs, texts or materials.
Consulting and Design
Our experience can help you best integrate your information and display panels
into the context of other exhibition media – clarifying concerns ranging
from the main aspects to highlight to effective visual design. If you wish, we
can also help train your staff to optimize the display panels' style, preserving
information depth while helping visitors access details faster.
Authoring / Editing
Our authors can write texts for information and display panels to meet your guidelines
on length, or can edit your material – and, if you wish, in an optimized
style. The draft texts are then presented to you to ensure the facts reflect
the latest scholarly developments. |

| AUDIO
BOOKS |
|
Audio books are enjoying increasing popularity – not
only for literature, but also as a medium in knowledge dissemination.
For exhibitions, an audio book is a near-perfect add-on, either
for visitors wanting to know more about the area before their
visit, or for all those who want to enjoy an audio memory of
the main themes.
We offer audio book production to accompany your exhibition, providing accessible
insights into the main exhibition themes. Our authors create interesting, stimulating
texts drawing, where possible, on original sources, with background atmosphere
and music to intensify the effect; the texts are spoken by our tried and tested
professional narrators. Here too, as always, we also realize an audio book project
in close cooperation with you. The audio books are packaged attractively, using
a design reflecting your own museal image and exhibition practices.

| TRANSLATIONS |
|
Is your exhibition designed to attract an international audience?
We can provide translations of your exhibition texts in all standard foreign
languages - and many of the less common ones too! Our professional native-speaker
translators are committed to providing quality and service for your texts - whether
as audioguides, information or display panels, for videos or multimedia sound
tracks.
Our translators are familiar with the specialized terminology in both the source
and target language and are practiced in reflecting the kind of style you have
chosen. Moreover, they are used to thinking cross-culturally, allowing for the
different cultural background of your foreign-language visitors and concisely
explaining those aspects that may otherwise be unfamiliar to them. |

| FINANCE
MODELS |
| Inclusive
If you select our Inclusive finance solution, we provide all the audio devices
to cover your needs. Furthermore, we undertake all productions, plus any
alterations or improvements, and all maintenance. We will also – if
you so desire – provide personnel for your audioguide hire stand. Under
the Inclusive finance model, the museum pays LINON Medien a set per visitor
fee that is in line with the technology used and production complexity.
Purchase
The price of the audio devices reflects technical specifications, memory and
add-ons - for example, use as group tour devices (where museum staff can lead
a tour via a microphone).
Leasing
You can also lease our audioguides. In this case, we prepare a cost calculation
for your specific needs, detailing price and contract period.
Hire
Under our hire model, a per day fee is due for each device hired. In this case,
as a first step, we undertake a precise needs analysis. If you are interested
in receiving an estimate, we'd be glad to arrange an appointment to visit you
and your museum, discuss your plans in detail, and – if you wish – show
you some of the audio devices we use.
